Tim Murray – Founding Partner

Prior to starting Precision Economics, Tim Murray was a Senior Executive with the Australian Government’s Productivity Commission. Tim’s professional career centred on developing and using (and leading teams developing and using) economic, econometric and machine learning models and frameworks to support detailed policy analysis.

Tim has applied his skills to a number of industry and policy areas, including productivity analysis, regional development, domestic and international tax, migration, childcare, urban and rural water, infrastructure decision making, education, emissions and energy, and health policy.


Phil Harslett – Partner

Phil Harslett has 15 years of experience as a quantitatively-minded economist, having worked at both the Australian Treasury and the Australian Government’s Productivity Commission. He has worked on a range of policy areas, including superannuation, taxation, fiscal policy, macroeconomic stabilization, trade, childcare, disability, education, intellectual property, health, and migration.

In these roles, Phil has developed and employed microsimulation, partial equilibrium, and general equilibrium models. He has also leveraged a wide range of statistical and data analytic tools to inform policy analysis, provide expert advice, and generate reliable forecasts.
